Congratulations to All of the Transition Year Geography students who submitted entries to the recent GeoWeek 2016 Map making competition hosted by the Geographical Society of Ireland. Rathdown School won the prize for the best represented school.

In particular, huge congratulations to Anais Dargnies who was placed 2nd in the competition. Anais submitted a map of her local park in Rennes, France. Her map highlighted the many attractions/features of the park which she reinforced with creative origami figures.

The Geography Department marked her achievement and contribution by presenting Anais, with a framed copy of her map. Well done Anais! geoweek-map-making-competition-800x664

Well done to the Senior Hockey team who beat Newbridge College this week and will progress to the next round of the Cup. The game finished 1-1 in normal time and Rathdown’s goal scorer was captain Alison Berkeley. It was a good performance by the girls which saw Newbridge goal keeper keep out numerous chances. The game went straight to penalty shuttles. Well done to Tessa May, Ciara Langtry, Lily Llyod, Alison Berkeley and Rachel Eggers who comfortably slotted their shots along with the fantastic performance in goal by Lucy Maule.

The girls go on to the next round to play High school after the Christmas break.
